Hotel Review: The Hoxton Holborn, London

The Hoxton, Holborn is a buzzing home in the heart of London. The area has a similar vibe to attractive, intellectual Bloomsbury (which makes sense, as Russell Square and the British Museum are a mere five-minute walk away), while the shops and restaurants of Covent Garden are 10 minutes on foot.

The Hoxton’s edgy DNA is evident in its Holborn location, with lively energy flowing from its stylish lobby (a magnet for digital nomads) through to the contemporary British restaurant.

This co-working spot in Holborn has a spacious lobby that’s free to use; simply set up shop here, and keep yourself supplied with food and coffee from the in-house cafe. Whilst Labs may lack the character and buzz of a coffee shop or hotel lobby, there’s free Wifi, clean loos, and loads of different seating options available.

Cozy is the standard room category and can easily fit two people. It feels snug, but in a good way: many aspects of the design are well-thought-out to maximize comfort, from abundant plugs by the bed to wall-mounted adjustable Anglepoise lamps. The shelf unit unfolds into a floating desk; the armchair and tall padded headboard (above a queen-sized bed) are made of soft distressed leather. I slept incredibly well. Dark curtains and A/C were the icing on the cake. I have to say, for being located in central London, it was very quiet.

There's a mini-fridge stocked with mineral water and milk, a safe, and a small wardrobe. The bathroom is small but adequate; the shower has good water pressure (no tub) and features toiletries from blank, an in-house brand.

A host of boutiques and independent restaurants can be found on nearby Exmouth Market, and Piccadilly Circus, Soho, and theatres of West End can be reached within 15 minutes on foot. The hotel is served by Holborn tube station (Central and Piccadilly Underground lines) around the corner.

Double rooms from £159 in low season; and from £229 in high. Breakfast included. Free Wi-Fi.
