Join Kevin Twit as he shares his deep love of hymns and the history behind these songs on the first Indelible Grace Hymn History Tour. Together, Kevin along with his wife Wendy have been dreaming for years creating this special tour to many of the places where some of their favorite hymn writers lived and worked. To see the garden shed where William Cowper wrote his hymns, to visit the church where Henry Lyte ministered the Gospel and first introduced Abide With Me, what a tremendous opportunity to have these hymns come alive in new and powerful ways. Their work with Indelible Grace has always been about helping people cultivate a deeper encounter with God and His Indelible Grace. Their desire for this tour will is to be a rich time of learning, fellowship, and singing together as you travel together throughout the beautiful country of England. Kevin has often said that when you sing one of Anne Steele’s hymns like Dear Refuge of My Weary Soul you have an opportunity to enter into the story of a woman who walked with God in the struggles of life over 300 years ago, and your view of the kingdom becomes so much bigger! They hope you will consider joining them as we walk where the hymnwriters walked, enjoy time for a leisurely conversations gathered in historic pubs and hymn singing throughout this weeklong tour. A beautiful encounter awaits us all!

“And Can It Be” - Charles Wesley

DAY SIX | MAY 31ST | BRISTOL Charles Wesley is widely regarded as the world’s greatest hymn writer. He worked in Bristol from 1739 to 1787 and had his family home in Charles Street from 1749 to 1771. At first, he lived at No 19 (a house that no longer exists) but then, in 1766, he moved to No 4, and, even after he had to move his family to London, he used this house on his visits to Bristol until at least 1782. Built in 1742, No 4 was possibly built by George Tully, the man responsible for rebuilding the New Room. Visitors today have the opportunity to see six rooms beautifully restored to how they might have been in Charles’ time: the parlor, the music room, the study, the kitchen, and two bedrooms. Within these rooms is told the story of Charles, his wife Sally, and their gifted children, one of whom was known as ‘the English Mozart’. Two rooms act as an extension to the museum at the New Room: the hymnody room explores the history of hymn-writing and in the basement cellar there are two short films to watch on Charles and his hymn-writing. Enjoy free time later in the afternoon. Dinner on your own.
