DAY ONE (Arrival Day) WELCOME TO THE LAKES! Meet your tour leader at Oxenholme Station and head for a delicious lunch, a chance to connect with fellow travelers.

Hilltop Farm: Step back in time at Beatrix Potter's charming farmhouse, learning about her life and literary inspiration.

Hawkshead Village: Explore this quaint village with its old church, shops, and chocolatier. Enjoy some afternoon tea.

Welcome Dinner: After settling in at your Ambleside hotel, gather for drinks and a delightful dinner to kick off your Lake District adventure.

Light walking: 2-4 miles throughout the afternoon. Sleep in AMBLESIDE.

DAY TWO | RYDAL MOUNTAIN AND GRASMERE
A Gentle Start: Embarking on a scenic nature walk. Choose between the Ambleside and Scandale Beck Circular or the idyllic Rydal Water walk.

Wordsworth's Legacy: Tour Rydal Mount, the home of William Wordsworth, and be enchanted by his poetry readings delivered by descendants.

Grasmere Delights: Indulge in Grasmere's famous gingerbread and explore its charming shops.

An Evening with a Local: Enjoy a talk or experience with a local. More will be revealed.

Light walking: 3-5 miles throughout the day, light hills and stairs. Bus 1 hr 45 mins. Sleep in Ambleside.

DAY THREE | STONE CIRCLES & MOUNTAIN HIKE
Castlerigg Stone Circle: Unveil the mysteries of this ancient stone circle, a free and fascinating historical site.

Afternoon Hike: Hike up Cat Bells, a short yet rewarding climb offering breathtaking views.

Keswick Village: Enjoy free time exploring Keswick

Natural Journaling Workshop: (Optional) Participate in a fun and informative nature journaling or watercolor workshop, capturing the beauty of the Lakes.

Ullswater Dinner Cruise: Cap off the day with a stunning dinner cruise on Ullswater, enjoying a delicious fish and chip supper while admiring the scenic beauty.

Moderate walking: 3 -5 miles throughout the day, steep but short hike up hills and some stairs. Bus 2 hrs. Sleep in AMBLESIDE.

DAY FOUR | A DAY ON THE LAKE

Cruise & Comfort: Embark on a relaxing cruise on Coniston Water, soaking in the stunning scenery.

Lunch at Bankground Farm: Savor a delicious lunch at this idyllic farm, famed for its connection to the "Swallows and Amazons" movie, and enjoy its incredible views.

Coniston Charm: Explore the village of Coniston and soak up its picturesque atmosphere. Visit Tarn Hows on the way back.

Dinner at The Haweswater: Enjoy a special dinner with renowned chef Mark Greenaway, (subject to availability)

Moderate walking: 4-6 miles throughout the day and stairs. Bus 2 hrs. Sleep in AMBLESIDE.

DAY FIVE | LATRIGG HIKE & AMBLESIDE

Morning Hike: Take a scenic drive to Upper Skiddaw and a morning hike to take in the break taking panoramic views from Latrigg viewpoint.

Ambleside Free Time: Enjoy a leisure afternoon in Ambleside exploring, shopping or simply just lingering in a cafe with a good book.

Final Farewell: Gather for a final dinner together

Moderate walking: 3-5 miles throughout the day and stairs. Bus 1 1/2 hrs. Sleep in AMBLESIDE.

DAY SIX (Departure Day) After an amazing 5 days together, it is time to leave. You will depart the hotel for the train station.

 

MORE TOUR INFORMATION

  • While in the Lake District, we will explore a new town or village daily. along with daily walks. This means sometimes walking up to an hour at a time. If you need to opt out of a hike, that is an option.

    These days are not overly strenuous but you need to be able to keep up with the group.
